ABOUT ST MENTOR
Built from lived experience of the ST1 application process
Founded by Kraig Jamieson
ST Mentor was founded by Kraig Jamieson, a UK doctor and incoming Ophthalmology ST1 who ranked 1st nationally in the 2026 Ophthalmology ST1 recruitment cycle.
After reflecting on the lessons from his 2025 application, Kraig rebuilt his portfolio using a structured, targeted approach — increasing his verified portfolio score from 30/50 to 46/50 over approximately 8 months between the 2025 and 2026 application cycles.
He also refined his interview preparation strategy and went on to score 95% across the two interview stations, becoming the top-ranked Ophthalmology ST1 applicant nationally.
ST Mentor was created to share this practical, structured approach with other applicants — starting with Ophthalmology ST1 portfolio review, evidence folder guidance and interview preparation.
The aim is to provide clear, applicant-focused guidance that helps candidates understand where they stand, prioritise their next steps, and prepare more strategically.
